I think this is slightly hyperbolic but one thing I've noticed is that women definitely have a lot more niches to work with and within those niches there's usually a makeup/fashion/hair meta they can use to make themselves a bit more appealing to that crowd or in general.

Sure, there's there's still a niche of goth dudes but those won't play as well on social media and the meta for their fashion in many ways hasn't really evolved since like 2004 while goth women have like a whole discourse on fashion.

Likewise we can talk about dad bods and curvy women but I always have to point out "dad bod" on to a lot of women is essentially just "Bodybuilder or athlete who's in their off season" and a lot of the stuff labeled as dad bods were considered reasonably fit a generation ago before the media decided every middle aged actor needed to be on gear for every role. Hell, the entire idea of comparing Jason Momoa on a day off to what an average dad looks like is so ridiculously toxic it nearly defies belief.

That's not to say it's impossible or unattainable to be some of these things or to find some other niche, but the fact is that a lot of people don't really get that male beauty standards have gone up in ways that flat out are not healthy. You have stuff like actors dehydrating to the point where their skin loses it's structural integrity for a shirtless scene or influencers claiming their juiced up body can be attained from a fad diet and this is just the world a lot of dudes live in.

See there's a saying in psychology - 'the map is not the territory.' Meaning: whatever you think you know, is only your own experience and understanding, and not actual reality. Well. I’ve gained more fat than I’ve ever had in over a decade… but that only makes me just not “ripped” because I have a fast metabolism.

So right now, my body type is slim (177cm or 5 feet 9 and 75kg) with a fit shape and healthy amount of muscle but still a very “smooth” texture and look on top of my muscles as a result of gaining fat.

In general I feel men should gain values in different fields than looks, e.g being hardworking, caring, familyoriented and willing to settle and provide for family.

Only the most handsome men can get women without having anything other than looks to offer, it just won't be the case for most of you. The standard for men in terms of looks is indeed much higher, but that's not a reflection of women's high standards - it's a reflection of how humans in general, both men and women, only perceive men to be physically attractive when they possess traits that are either:

a) rare on men

For example, having a handsome face (a face whose beauty could be considered on par with the face of a beautiful woman) as a man is extremely rare - biology simply doesn't prioritize beauty when it comes to the male appearance. What does biology prioritize when it comes to males? Honestly, I have no clue because it seems like biology stacked the deck majorly in women' favor, giving them more beauty, more social skills, more emotional intelligence, and just as much IQ as the average man. Additionally, features like being at least six feet tall is also found within a small percentage of the male population, despite being considered a minimum standard by many women. Having a larger-than-average penis size is similarly uncommon amongst men, despite being universally preferred.

For example, the male physique is only attractive when it is significantly muscular while still maintaining the proportions observed within male Greek statues or golden-era bodybuilders. The female physique, on the other hand, is attractive so long as it is below a certain BMI, and doesn't need to possess any muscle mass to be so. Skinny, slim, skinnyfat, and even curvy are all examples of bodytypes which look good on women but horrible on men. In the same way that no man admires the physique of a skinny, slim, skinnyfat or curvy man, neither do any women.

Whenever I leave my house, the average woman I see around me has a pretty face (usually not my personal type, but someone I consider pretty nonetheless) and a nice body, while the average man possess neither. Not for putting any less effort than the woman (sure, the woman might have a better skincare routine and wears makeup), but simply because women have better facial harmony than men do and because women's physiques don't require muscle to be found attractive.

Modern relationships between men and women in the west or really any modern country cuz it's not just west is really a function of novelty.

In order for you to be someone that is valued as being a potential partner you have to have some novel traits for some people that's: a talent, that's a physical/creative ability, and for most people its looks.

At least in the United States of America if you are terrified of the home invader or some sort of criminal taking advantage of you you can buy a gun so you have the ability to physically protect yourself.

There is no necessity based role left in that relationship therefore novelty is what binds people together and some people can be impressed by something for very long period of time because it truly is impressive some people aren't.

u/Digger1649 I don’t need to do an experiment because I know what actually happens. I got tons and tons of matches on there too. Out of all the guys I matched with, only one of them met me in person. I’ve met more women off of tinder than men. A lot of guys swipe right on literally every profile. That doesn’t mean they are attracted to you.
