That being said, men dating for LTRs and marriage would do well to pay more attention to a date’s political, religious, and philosophical views, since compatibility on basic values is important long-term. You don’t have to agree on everything, but major differences on fundamental issues will cause problems.

Right leaning, free market politics have no appeal to the sex in the city style free college, higher minimum wage, free healthcare, abortions, childcare, social security & welfare are all ways for society to subsidize a single woman’s lifestyle.

If a woman wants a family, her road will tend to go right without provocation down the line. Obviously the serial daters, spinsters, LGBTQIA+, man haters will never change.

Women can be far pickier than men and they are far more cutthroat because of it.

I'm sure it wasn't always this way but the way women act you would think that they feel like they have an almost unlimited number of choices that they can make especially when it comes to men. And they have tons of thirsty bettas orbiting her so she can float her hypergamy ship upon them.

When a woman is actually looking to vet a man all you have to do is just look at her long list of requirements (every one of them deal breakers) and you'll get an idea of where this is coming from.

There are far too many people in this world that think in black and white, true and false, on or off, right or wrong when almost nothing in this world besides mathematics has true and predictable answers what is right and what is wrong.

And most people have derived their right or wrong sense of Truth and morality based on the group they grew up with or want to belong to. I can kind of understand that from folks well into their twenties but after the age of 28 to 30 years old if you haven't done some serious questioning about the ideologies and beliefs of people around you and then therefore your own, you're just a parrot/puppet.

Women tend to be more agreeable with than men which means they tend to go along with the group which means they tend to go along with the majority. Like a bunch of lemmings that walk right off a cliff never realizing that the people they are following aren't doing them any favors. It just feels safe and comfortable there.

Seemingly clashing values and world views in a lot cases, especially with how divisive and polarizing politics are today.

Stereotypes aside, "pure masculine alpha-ness" is only attractive up to a point and becomes relatively less important with greater education and income. At some point, assortative mating kicks in with respect to world views, values, and interests especially for LTRs.

I’ve been leaning left more and more recently as a product of how incredibly rigged the US has become towards the wealthy…. That being said, I would just lie until I got laid. No point in playing by the rules if it leads to the less desirable outcome. That’s life.

Edit to add: I think when I said “lean left” everyone assumed I meant “vote left”. I think politics in this nation are irreparably damaged and I don’t find myself voting for anyone I truly think will make a difference.

Less men care about anything other than appearance which is accounted for in their higher drive to get laid, and accounts for the differences in these surveys. The values and beliefs of their hookups or people they're only short-term tolerating for sex don't matter. They may have higher requirements for a serious relationship, but will take whatever they can get while they're waiting for her to come along, or become desperate enough to start lowering their standards and start hiding true beliefs because they feel like they can't afford to do otherwise. On apps, I've had men outright admit to me that they liked my profile, but would never write one like mine because it would put too many people off (putting me off in the process, regardless of whether they agree with me or not).

When it comes to a serious relationship, if you have views that are actually important to you, and feel you have good reasons for them, I don't see how it's not easy to understand why a potential life partner needs to share them, if that's the kind of relationship you're looking for. There are some topics you can't just "agree to disagree" on.

You'll see this disparity on most qualities. Men naturally want to qualify women, while women naturally disqualify men.

Do this with any arbitrary state, and men are always going to be the most likely party to compromise. Of course most men would look the other way on politics. Most men don't have the option to say no to a woman and have another woman on standby.

Apparently Democratic women find Republican values an affront to their sensibilities. Men tend to not be as dogmatic about conservative beliefs unless they are religious or the belief is about the right to bear arms.

Also, women can afford to be pickier as they usually get more attention from men and, when they don’t, have less of a need for sex than thirsty men do. Men are more likely to compromise political beliefs if it means having sex with an attractive woman.

Once I got into my late 20s, I would tell men as early as possible in the dating process that I was thinking about getting myself sterilized in hopes that it would make the true conservative ones run the other way.

One time, I dated a guy who I found out after we had been dating for awhile that he had a homophobic side and I didn't even feel bad while I was sucking another man's dick. Deep down I felt he deserved it for being a bad person.

Incompatible people dating - would not recommend.

Would definitely prefer cats to a non-lefty male or would try to become a lesbian.

Perhaps I'm not alone and this is why 30% of Gen Z women are lesbians now.

I think this poll is just a surface level analysis, like the laundry list of requirements a person wants out of a partner but not what they would settle for. I think people who say it's due to women looking for long term compatibility vs men looking for short term is right. I do think this poll highlights a trend but I don't think it is indicative of how real world relationships play out.

First of all democrats and republicans are such a broad term. Democratic and republican party platforms don't even make sense ideologically and you would be hard pressed to find people who agree with every single policy. Really 20-30% of voters in the US are the loud minority which is responsible for polarization, most people are in the middle and aren't so militant about politics. I don't think I've agreed with anyone 100% on politics ever. Most people just don't talk about politics like that or care really. Our two party system is all bullshit anyways, the political parties don't care about you they care about maintaining power.

I'm not really worried about this trend long term because if people feel so strongly about it then they won't date and won't spread that ideology to the next generation because it's not a successful mating strategy. The people that focus on the conventional high value markers will be much more successful.
