Well considering this is talking about me, I’ll chime in for all it’s worth. Yeah I’m lonely, I would like to be in a relationship, but I never felt like I was deserving of one or just always felt like a girl wouldn’t be interested. And the ones I have been in were pretty toxic and being single felt like the easier path to take.

Unfortunately, aggression is something that has been growing in me for the past six years. I’m not saying mass shooting level of violence, but I have had a fair share of violent outbursts that even shocked me in seeing what I was capable of.

I would say I have no idea how society could address this, because it sometimes seems irrelevant until something tragic already happens.

I’ve always assumed I had something wrong with me from birth. I’m fit and attractive but socially I rarely seem to fit in and even hanging out with my friends and family I’m just imitating them to fit in.

I’ve read and paid attention to a lot of what Scott Galloway writes. I agree with everything. I’m just unsure of the right way forward — we need to be limiting the younger generations’ reliance on tech and social media. I agree that the responsibility does not lie solely with men to change because it’s a societal issue, but I’m not sure a good solution has been proposed yet. Even Scott’s own recommendations are often directed AT men.

I for one agree that society needs to recognize that men don’t have it easy — or at least they perceive way more difficulties in modern society than the average woman might realize. I think we need to cool it with talk of “toxic masculinity.” Sure this concept exists — but we need to be sure we’re not conflating it with plain masculinity. Men need to have outlets, role models, and a path forward in life where they don’t have to be terrified and ashamed of being men. We need to have more societal compassion.

There is no doubt that toxic women exist, too. But women also have it hard in certain ways, and the path forward can’t completely ignore that.

Right now I only have a daughter. I’m going to try to teach her to think in less divisive terms about gender dynamics. Society will do what it will. It probably helps that she has an extremely amazing model of masculinity in her dad.

If I have a son, I will try to teach him that going out and experiencing the world and meeting people, fostering passions outside of phone and video games, etc is so important.

Look at the way the women are reacting in the comments section. I’ve noticed this all through my life. No one likes what are perceived as “weak” men. The minute you show weakness as a man, you get attacked like sharks to blood - they rip you apart. There is nothing worse or more pathetic than a guy that asks for help.

As a man, you need to naturally figure everything out while simultaneously having every desirable trait - most of which is genetic. Being a naturally HVM is extremely important - no one gives a flying fk about the incel that struggles to talk to women. That is…until he shoots up a school.

The bald guy is a man named Scott Galloway. He was my former boss technically. I worked at his firm L2 back in the day as an intern. In a lot of indirect ways, I owe a lot to him. But that's a story for a different day.

I agree with everything he's said. As someone who almost went into the edgelord route of playing videogames all day and not giving a shit about anything, the only reason why I amounted to anything in my life is because I was given not one, but hundreds of second chances in my life.

Men today have severed themselves from institutions and connections which exist to give their days structure and their lives meaning. It's only a given that porn, videogames, and social media are going to vill the void of masculinity.

I feel like an underrated aspect of all this is how much men stake out jobs/careers/etc. based on perceived ability to attract a mate.

Frankly, I get the general feeling that a lot of men have the entirety of their goals and ambitions attached to whether or not they can use that to attract a partner.

Many would be perfectly happy to stop putting in effort otherwise.

The short answer is that sooner or later you have to let young men have nice things rather than perpetually keep them out of reach. Talk about guardrails is great if men think they have something worth working towards, but if it's awful pay terrible working conditions and no dating prospects then those guardrails aren't going to work.

To go into more detail, with regards to work, the biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action policies are white women. Those are the winners, and considering how aggressively white collar feminists pushed for these policies, it's hard to believe this is an accident or coincidence. The policies themselves and our attitude towards them both need to be heavily re-evaluated.

The core of the dating issue is that while the average man considers the average woman an attractive dating prospect, the reverse is certainly not true. This is largely the result of a constant bombardment of highly attractive people over social media. I don't have a solution for this but there's no situation where most women consider their male peers ugly troglodytes and people emerge from this happy.

Women enjoy an array of social advantages as well as people being more sympathetic to their issues or being more willing to actually help them when they are suffering. You can never replicate this exactly for men but the issue is society broadly doesn't care about them at all. Finally nobody actually believes this "survival of the fittest" cop out that some users on here give when confronted with how serious male issues actually are - find an issue that affects something they care about and they will soon forget this view and start talking about injustice and rectification.

As a young woman who’s doing pretty okay for myself; I notice some men my age who aren’t doing quite as well (say, living at home, no job experience) almost try to … punish me ? It’s as if they are jealous I have moved out and try to support myself. One man actually discouraged me from getting my education. Weaponized sex, getting kicks out of abandoning me. Many weird vibes dating young men in this day and age.

I really think the internet and porn have sent young men down a dangerous path. It’s so easy for them to get sucked in. And men have much more addictive personalities so these internet ideologies and drug epidemics and violent porn all hit them harder. I have guy friends who I try to support and help out but romantically, I stay away, as I always seem to lose and get hurt. I’m scared for young people and especially young men, just so despondent and very often cruel nowadays.

Western societies are on a gradual and assured decline. Everything has been set in motion for so long, that I don't think these issues can be resolved without some sort of major reset/catastrophe which pushes humans to do so.

Additionally, did you see how women on TwoX reacted to this same clip? That should give you more than enough insight that nobody actually gives a shit about any of these problems. It'll only become a problem once it starts interfering in their lives.

The problem with these “What’s wrong with young men” discussions is that they inevitably infantilize young men in a way that, if I were still a young man, I would find offensive. I didn’t need to “learn” to wear a clean shirt and not drink in the office and I wouldn’t want to be treated as if I needed to based on my age and gender.

BUT, since this infantilization seems to be supported by the very men being condescended to, let’s roll with it: how?

You don’t get to train with live rounds. If you need to learn how to talk to girls, how to function in an office, how to handle adversity without mass murder, you don’t get to do it with my female family members, my job, or my personal safety at stake. So should there be special “social skills” schools with classes like “How not to send dick pics” and “How to use your words to talk to colleagues”? Sounds like there should be.

If young men want to be mad at anyone, it shouldn’t be women or well-meaning men or even technology. Get mad at the people telling you you’re too immature to function. Then get mad at yourself for believing them. Man, fuck the panel in this video. They don’t have your best interest in mind.

Once you realize that its value is mostly artificial, you pity the braggadocios: it reeks as performative and sad.

Sex is sex. It only holds as much weight as you allow it. And many men have allowed it or the lack thereof to hold their entire lives hostage.

Be they Tate or FDS, I think both are quite stupid and prevent both men and women from achieving happiness through weaponizing FOMO.

I just looked at the opposite perspective of this issue on r/twochromosomes . (Women). Their perspective was summed up as basically “Guys don’t even try and they paint themselves as the victim.”….it kind of made me shake my head. Historically, yes, it’s been a male-centric society and still is in many aspects that need further diversity improvement, such as CEOs being overwhelmingly male. However, if you’re looking at the dating and social spheres only, I think the Maher clip is spot on. I’m married now, but I completely understand the desperation and depression when you aren’t succeeding economically and aren’t succeeding in dating. And I completely disregard the women’s critique of “well, it’s because you just want a supermodel. Your standards are too high.” No, I didn’t want a supermodel, I wanted someone not morbidly obese.

There’s a big, huge gap on how both genders are seeing this issue. One of the problems from a male perspective is that it’s a fine line between valid critiques and misogyny/sexism.

The perspective on the sub I mentioned before were that men were just lazy and didn’t try to improve themselves at all, so what do they expect when that’s the case? To me, that’s not a constructive viewpoint. I’ve long said that “be yourself” isn’t accurate, that guys should work like crazy to be the best VERSION of yourself in the dating realm, but once you’re already doing that, there is a big frustration there that leads to the negative side effects mentioned in OP. As far as solutions, I don’t really know. Unfortunately I don’t even see the potential for constructive dialogue when both sides of the issue are so far apart.

It would take an essay to write about everything covered in this video and about the video itself.

I remember a similar topic was discussed on PPD. One guy wrote something like "If no one likes us [undesired men], just get rid of us". Given current attitude towards men and their problems, this sounds quite reasonable.

On a serious note, describing and acknowledging experiences of men would be a good start. There are a lot of myths and stereotypes about lives of men, which are created by "it's common knowledge" narratives. In my opinion, these stereotypes are as baseless and common as "women cannot drive" stereotype was in the past.

Speaking of the most dire cases of guys who fail in life very early, they need some psychological intervention. I've read somewhere that traditional psycotherapy is oriented towards requirements of women, so there is a need for new approaches in therapy if we want men to be involved.

One of the things which came to my mind is that parenting of boys should be somewhat corrected. Usually parenting of a boy concentrates around prohibitions and punishments. We all know that all boys are agressive and competitive and do not know where to direct their energy at. Spoiler: not all boys are like that. Many of them need encouragement in being aggressive and setting boundaries. In school I've seen guys not responding to beatings because they believed "good boys don't fight".

Too many parents think that they succeeded if they raised a quiet and obidient boy who causes no trouble.

The conditions that created this problem are a result of too many irreligious and dysgenic people in the population. You need religion to keep your society functioning properly and keep out outside forces (who have a really bad impact on our economies). So the future will be brighter, after some really, really dark times. Problem isn't women on dating apps, it's the genetics of the population at large.

What's confusing about this take is all the highschool mass shooters. They have access to more socialization opportunities than any other time in their life. Clubs and sports teams dedicated to hobbies and building relationships. School dances to have fun and maybe bring a date. So they don't seem to fit with points raised.

They're not idle. They're not using internet dating apps. They're not expected to provide or even have a job. They meet none of the criteria laid out.

They are mentally ill, have neglectful parents, have easy access to firearms, and spend time on the internet in spaces that tell them how awful they have it and how there is no hope for their lives ever improving.

The only way to fix it is to make the beta strategy, aka marriage, viable again. That means normal men need the ability to support a family and survive a divorce well enough to marry again. Neither of those are true and won't be for decades. Society lives on the backs of betas making things to please their wives and children. The sexlessness statistics actually went down for young men in 2021 according to the GSS and went up for young women. A lot of this is likely due to COVID fears, but it shows that many young men can adapt to changing situations, and I think that this is what is happening.

There are always a small minority of very discontented men in every country. This problem is exacerbated in the US due to our gun freedoms, but it’s not like young male discontent is anything new or unique to the US. The biggest problem is the economy encouraging people to stay single for longer because it’s so costly to start a family.

This dynamic has been around for many decade's, but seems to really have gotten a foothold in today's society. A show, podcast radio presentation is produced to capture ratings. They've found that controversy equals ratings. Take a radio talk show, they present a topic or information that could be construed as controversial. They'll make their presentation and begin taking calls. Have you noticed that if they take 50 calls, 49 of them are from people who vehemently disagree with what was presented? It's called being worked. Ratings=$ and $=success. Media and entertainment are in business to make money and they'd stand in front of the camera with their genitals out, if that would give them ratings. The news was 98% informational and 2% conjecture in years past. Now it's a dramatization of reality. If you want a happier, more successful life, stop consuming that 💩.

Yes, we are violent. There is a reason why an entire concept of heaven in norse myth revolved around fighting all day. It's why we get sucked into video games virtually killing one another/kicking each other's ass all day, we were mostly condemned by modern society to quell these urges and to sit in a classroom for 8 hours a day and only get scarce opportunities for physical activity. A select lucky few were groomed from childhood to live a life of "valhalla" metaphorically speaking through sports. Even getting your needs met, modern gaming and porn basically drip line the dopamine straight into our veins. No reason or pull to do anything else really. Who actually wants to deal with boring legal work, medicine, burger flipping, whatever soul sucking job there is out there. We've been cucked since birth, genitalia mutilation, absent fathers are now proverbial. Distractions are pervasive, work has no fulfillment and is exhausting, hypergamy is rampant, artificial estrogens everywhere, all entertainment at the end of the day is a pervasive demoralization campaign. No sense of belonging or community, too many cultures and random people to gaf about. You can't even protect your family without facing prosecution, there is even a big push to take away your means for self defence. This is possibly one of the worst times in history for men, no question. Still i don't believe half of these mass shooting stories, it's a giant gun grabbing scheme. I pray that if it ever comes to that, then we aren't so demoralized by then to at least put up a fight. But id imagine we're all probably too doped up on whatever and estrogens by now. Conquered before it even began, many such cases.

I'm convinced the solution can only be better education outcomes for men and better income equality in general. In North America schooling seems to be failing male students. Lots of factors to unpack here, perhaps a lack of male teachers as role models being a huge one. We also need more male students on college campuses. Or better yet... just make it easier to, y'know, live on a minimum wage instead of having to get a college degree for a basic entry-level job that you can excel at with onsite training alone?

Remember that young people are part of a generation that is poorer than those before it. So many people are living paycheck-to-paycheck today because top earners are doing everything to inhibit the flow of wealth to everyone. And you are seeing the results of decades worth of austerity play out across society, especially in dating and relationships.

I'm completely amazed to see that redpill talking points from 7 years ago are finally mainstream and now everyone is talking about them. A lot of women and guys like Bill Maher still seem to be pretty unempathetic to the situation but I think it gives some hope for society.
