Social Media has made it easier to live behind a screen, especially for men. This is not good for mental or physical health, which are both important attributes for attraction.

I think people who say this are naive. There isn’t a designated someone out there that you have to find.

However, there ARE people who would be more compatible with you, and people who would be LESS compatible with you. And the numbers game/abundance mentality does increase your chances of finding someone compatible with you.

But it’s more that there are TRAITS that everyone has, and people who have more desirable traits tend to find more people “compatible” with them than people with negative traits.

I’m not just talking about looks, either. Attractive traits are things like fun, funny, creative, articulate, laid back, warm, brave, strong etc. While negative traits (as in, traits that drive people away) tend to be things like bitter, combative, condescending, buzzkill, etc.

It's a platitude.

Like most things said to single people while dating and maybe struggling to date. It's along the lines of:

"It'll happen when you least expect it"

"You have to love yourself first before you can love someone else"

"When you stop looking is when you find it"

It's something someone says to make someone who isn't happy about being single feel better about being single. And no people are not going to single handedly pick apart what you are doing wrong in dating. Because why kick someone while they are down. It's not actual advice it's not productive. It's just something to make someone feel better about their situation.

The thing with dating and relationships. Is it's numbers and luck. So if you are getting frequent dates. Actively dating. And meeting people and have a wider social circle. You'll likely have an easier time dating and finding a relationship. Versus someone who doesn't have a good social circle doesn't go out a lot isn't really putting themselves out there. Solely relying on dating apps. You are likely not going to have success. There is a certain amount of luck. You can't control how someone feels about you. It's there or it is not.

And doing that takes a lot of time, searching, patience, and rejection. It is, indeed, a process that could take a long time and for some never bear fruit. I've always felt that dating (for LTR purposes) was never simple, easy, or quick. It can take a long time and involve much failure. Even if you eventually succeed.

I genuienly believe women no longer need men as they did in the previous generations. Women now have achieved total independance and equality and are outdoing men in education and careers which is great.

Modern dating has a number of underlying conceits that allow people to swallow a very cutthroat and chaotic process that enables a whole lot more misery than it prevents. And one of those conceits is that there is someone for everyone. Which, while being physically truer than it isn't, doesn't reflect social reality.

It's more true that there's a man for every woman, but even that has caveats to it.

I don't think the response to things being this way is to just throw up our hands and say it is what it is, but it do be like that. A healthy society is one in which more people are partnered and satisfied than aren't and the rest have a reasonable means of getting to that same place.

Socially, we're nowhere close to that and it's getting worse over time.

For example I work at a hospital and one of the patients was a 40 year old morbidly obese unemployed guy with diabetes and limb amputations. He had a girlfriend by his side learning how to do the dressing changes for his wound care. She was also obese but maybe slightly less so than he was. Later one of the nurses commented how it was possible for that guy to have a girlfriend and I replied “Well there’s someone for everyone.” But yeah at any given time there’s going to be at lot of lonely people out there especially if the have high standards or are not willing or able to self improve.

There are extreme cases of people who simply can’t coexist with others, for various reasons.

There is also a general rise in selfish behavior (at least here in the US), that makes it very difficult to be in a healthy relationship.

There comes a certain point when people are living independently, that their tolerance for others / adjusting their lifestyle to fit another person is very difficult and not particularly desirable.

The current economy is harsh, and where it makes the most sense to pair up, it’s more often being used as a tool to weed out potential mates.

There being someone for everyone in no way guarantees you will find your someone. They could be oceans away and you could never meet them. But, it seems extremely likely given the number and diversity of people on this planet, someone out there exists who would like you back. This is usually a suggestion similar to "there's more fish in the sea" and that you must persistently seek them.
Just because there's someone out there for you and you meet them, doesn't mean you cannot fuck it up with them. You absolutely can and many people do. The entire concept of the "one that got away" is part of this. At no point are any of us suggesting there's someone out there you could Chinese Water torture and they'd still just like you because magic. You still have to behave appropriately in order to get with and keep them. It just means they'll probably fit you and have more tolerance for the proverbial Chinese water torture that is your personality.

Because the unfortunate reality is that there isn’t someone for everyone out there, and so many of these men are doing it wrong. So many men out here are out of shape, no job, no car, no ambitions and are trying to find a woman while not having their shit together. Truth is they need to get in shape, upgrade their lifestyle, and be ambitious enough to think outside of the box to be able to even have a chance. If you do it right then a lot of women will flock to you, sure you could say it isn’t actual attraction and they just want your money/lifestyle. After listening to some guys here and in other forums, it seems that many of them do have standards or requirements, contrary to what they claim. If a guy refuses to date fat women, single moms, women over 30, or promiscuous women, then he's obviously going to be competing with millions of other guys for a very small percentage of thin, young women.

Canada has 10% more young men than young women. It's due to immigration. I bet USA also has more young men, especially single. there is a map showing young single people by gender for USA, every city has more men than women

Ya it’s the classic just world fallacy that ofc only ever applies to men. if a women struggles for whatever reason it’s cause men are all misogynistic and superficial. they then justify this with the good old most men are trash and therefore not worth dating while they hopefully wait for prince charming to land in their Laps.

Its all connected to the ideology of men bad women good. They use this as basis to claim that they are actually morally superior to men as a whole. then you get more nonsense like, women claiming statements such as “unlike men who are superficial pigs we women judge on personality“ this is usually easily debunkable with the mountain of evidence we have showing by and large men are less picky then women and find more members of the opposite sex attractive then the other way around.

this is when blue pillars will try to argue it’s all in your head cause actually most men have had sex according to studies. The Studies themselves however have several asterisk, that need to be discussed.

1 it’s all anecdotal meaning it’s subject to lies or exaggerations heavily influencing the numbers. due to different incentives men are more inclined to lie upwards (not to get virgin shamed) and women will lie downwards (not to get slut shamed)

2 most of these only account for anyone whose had sex once within the last year. Even with this around 30%ish of men still report having no sex whatsoever.

3 even if we pretend that #1 couldnt have influenced anyone’s decision, women on average are still having more sexually partners then men, so who exactly are they fucking.

4 average marriage age is around 30 and rising.

What they don’t want you to consider is that there is 100% a small faction on men in society currently enjoying probably around 80-90% of all sex while they continue to spin plates. That marriage age is on the rise partly cause of all of guys are waiting to be betabux after chads done having his fun. That if being nice is that you needed then attractive fuckboys wouldnt continue to get so much sex. That they never apply the same logic to themselves as apparently being sexist only goes one way, and that they are morally superior to men or something something the patriarchy men can’t suffer they control everything.

It's just a worthless platitude spouted by people who not only don't care if you end up lonely but if you complain you get gaslit by them into thinking it's because you're horribly defective. If you're fat, smelly and never go outside then sure it's your fault but if you are lean, well groomed and sociable and still can't find a woman that likes you back then it's something else at fault.

In theory this is true. The big issue is that average women think they're 10s and are going way above their league instead of getting with their approximate equivalent.

Because of how society was structured most people needed to end up with someone to survive.

This has changed and so women in particular can be more picky as they don’t need as much from men.

Notice that it’s loneliness epidemic for men and not a single-ness epidemic for everyone (even though more people are unmarried than ever). Most single women are not lonely, and the lack of social and emotional intelligence skills for many men is not just why they’re single but also lonely.

Gender ratio has nothing to do with loneliness epidemic. You seem to mix up being single and being lonely. Get your terms straight.

You claim SO MANY MEN struggle to find one woman who likes them back. How many are so many?

Pew study is only about CURRENTLY being in a committed relationship. And it says that half of the single men do not even want to be in a relationship at the current time. It says nothing about how much the men who are not in relationships struggle to find one woman who likes them back.

So where do you get your information from, that "so many men" struggle to even find one woman who like sthem back?

As to why someone might struggle to find someone: autism, only using online dating, being terminally online, socially isolated
