I'm 32 and haven't. Being on the spectrum, social skills have always been very hard for me, let alone the sort of subtleties dating involves. Hard to meet new people when I get older, and what I want is a loving relationship; sex on its own seems hollow to me. Perhaps I'm old-fashioned in this regard, but I think it should mean something. I'm not one to say "no sex before marriage", but I don't think it's a decision to be made lightly.

Off topic but may help some of you who think poorly if themselves and believe they may never find love... My bf was a virgin when I met him when he was 23. he is on the spectrum. Hes a 28yo man now. He never had any social skills. He thought he was ugly, he has a crooked eye, asthma, heart condition, he thinks he has no personality and when I met him and he didn't really speak too much. We finally started dating, and it took him about 2 months into the relationship to even kiss me...and about 4months into the relationship to have sex. He didn't know what the hell to do as he never did it before, and he was nervous, but it was absolutely the best sex I've ever had. Everything about this man is so God damn amazing. 5 years later, we are having our 2nd child. The sex is still so god damn amazing, and everyday I feel so fucking lucky to have him. I still cannot stop looking at him. And to think if he didn't take the chance and believe me when I told him he is perfect and got stuck on hating himself then we wouldn't be where we are now... his confidence grew a shit ton and his social skills improved with my help and I seriously couldn't imagine a single day without him...sorry for long text.., I just hope somebody reads this and takes some time for self care and most importantly, stop letting those intrusive negative thoughts about yourself hinder your ability to see how great you are, and how great you might be to someone else...

I don't know how to answer this question. Life can be cruel. When you're young, you assume things will click for you, even if they do take a long time.

I was a loser in high school I suppose. Invisible, too shy. On the bottom of the social rung due to race, being very quiet etc.. I was fairly athletic, and well built so I was never bullied. I could never work through the insecurities. It's a great regret of mine. In college I went to parties, but it was disheartening because I thought I was already way behind of my peers. Hooking up came so easily to attractive friends and peers. Bear in mind, I did get hit on but was too nervous to really reciprocate. Other times I assumed it couldn't be genuine interest.

Life only got worse. I lost my early 20s to cancer. It took me until the tail end of 26 to find my first girlfriend. I had a lot of performance anxiety. Sex was difficult because she had been abused and raped before. I didn't want to screw up and put immense pressure on myself. I was able to please her through fingering.
