So, maybe I should clarify: I find that a TON of guys these days are only looking for a physical FWB sort of relationship. Like, it’s become an epidemic. And as a woman I guess I don’t quite understand?

Sure, some women look for that same sort of thing too, but not nearly as much and not as abrasively. I just don’t get why guys seem so uninterested in the mental/emotional aspect of a connection, it almost seems boring to them. As if it’s not even a thing they acknowledge.

I know that the classic answer is ‘guys have 2 brains’, but I want an actual answer. I refuse to believe that something between every man’s legs can dictate his every action in life, even in the romantic aspects. We’re all human after all, women get aroused too and yet we seem to prefer emotional/mental connections (the majority anyway).

I’ve only got 2 possible theories I can think of for this:

A) a penis is genuinely an all-powerful mind control weapon which can overwhelm the senses of the majority of men (more unlikely)

B) societal influences throughout history on the genders. For example, women are often told/taught young by media and their parents that they should strive towards finding their ‘prince charming’, whilst men are often told/taught young that they don’t have to worry about that stuff, and due to the words of their male family members they grow up being more excited to have intimacy rather than have a romantic relationship. At least that’s what I’ve been told from some others. This possibility seems more likely but I’m still not certain.

So yah I’d be very interested to hear any comments on this! :) I’d genuinely like to learn a male perspective on this to get actual answers

EDIT: Some of these comments have been very enlightening, and I’ve enjoyed reading them! Even if I haven’t replied I have read every single one and have upvoted ones I think are a cool perspective. However, some people have been moreso attacking me instead of just having a spirited debate, and these specific people seem to be under the assumption that this post was about my own life currently and that I’ve gone through a string of rejections; sorry to burst your bubble but I am a sociology major and hence very interested in groups of people and why they act the way they do. So if you’re looking to throw in a personal attack here you’ve got the wrong one💀 (I’ve been single for 2 years and not on any dates for 6 months lol, not looking to get hurt and all that crap). So anyways if we could keep the comments on the topic of actual debate that would be cool! Thank you :)
