I feel like a lot of the reason behind why women don’t want to have sex with their LVM husbands after giving birth is because they’re forced to confront the extent of his entitlement and non-participation in the marriage. Before a baby, a man might be able to maintain an air of innocence about not contributing to the household, for example, and the wife/girlfriend has more free time and energy to pick up his slack. But right after giving birth, her body is literally injured, she’s exhausted, sleep deprived, and is face to face with the fact that he isn’t helping, let alone pulling his fair share. It’s hard to deny the truth of the gender roles in your relationship when the baby is screaming and your loser husband just rolls over and fake snores louder. It’s hard to feel sexual attraction in the face of deep inequity. I’m sure the resentment doesn’t take long to build up, given how much WORK caring for a newborn + yourself + the house + life in general actually is, and seeing how you’re basically doing it all by yourself. For a lot of women, I bet the time after having a baby is the first real slap in the face about how much more she is having to do in the relationship. Who wants to go down on a husband who sat on his ass all day while you waddled around sleep deprived in diapers and still had to cook him dinner?
