I argue that dating on average is the hardest for straight men. People of other sexualities and straight women are good enough, worthy of receiving love just for existing. Gay men don't have to "self-improve" or become successful men in order to find love. The same applies for lesbian women or anyone who is either not a straight man. A lesbian struggling to date would never get advice such as "you need to go to the gym, work on yourself and be successful in life"

Straight men are the only group of people who don't deserve love for simply existing. Instead they are met with arbitrary requirements such as being taller, more assertive, more financially successful than the women. They must show some kind of "potential" that they are capable and competent. Women don't want boys they want "real men".

Even in so called liberal societies where women can work or stay at home women still except men to protray the outdated gender role of "provider" and "protector" regardless of her income status in order for him to be attractive, even if the man doesn't want children.

Therefore I conclude that dating is by far the hardest for heterosexual men because unlike every other sexuality or gender simply existing is not enough.
