Men are bitter because of the inconsistency and even hypocrisy of policy that says the genders are equal or that gender doesn't matter, but then the intractable actual reality of the female sexual advantage and selectivity.

But aim your anger at the idiocy of social constructionist ideology, not reality of gender difference. At the 'average' level, women are the selectors. They have a sexual leverage advantage. However, if you look at it from their side, this is not necessarily an advantage in terms of the real endgoal of life: being happy. They have more choice, but they also find it harder to appreciate a lot of what they can choose from. Men's lack of discernment and greater ability to be happy with an 'average' woman who is nice is in many ways a huge advantage when looked at from another perspective.

And of course, in the final gender tally of advantages and disadvantages--a calculus that ultimately no mere mortal can fully sum up--women still bare more sexual costs. Additionally, male advantage is not spread as evenly as women's: you have to include the elite males in the calculus for the entire gender. Nobody has it better in life than the top men.

Now, given all of this, female selectivity can get out of whack--it can become distorted or overly amplified to an extent that is not good for men, women or the human species. I think some of that has happened. But this isn't the fault of individual women, who are as much a victim of this as anyone. But do remember that even if female selectivity is properly calibrated, it will always be there. And at the level of the average guy and gal, women will have the sexual leverage advantage and be the primary sexual selectors. This is how it is supposed to be.

Many of us have great dating / sex lives and have no problem attracting the women we’re attracted to, the men in this sub are faaaar from representative of what goes on in the real world, but it’s also a matter of the social circles you’re in and geographical location.

Also another thing that I think a lot of dudes here fail to consider is that while women may get a lot of attention online no matter the medium, the average type of guy who “slides into her DMs and shoots his shot” is low quality AF, mostly weirdos and straight losers.

I used to feel kinda bad about being kinda at the bottom of the barrel when I compare myself to the other people in my social circle because I only have a bachelors, I make slightly less than 6 figures and I only speak 4ish languages as opposed to the six or seven all the people around speak. And then my FWBs started showing me messages from dudes that try to get at them online and I was astounded at how low quality these dudes were, and even most of the tall attractive ones were basically low value compared to these girls.

So while women may get a lot of attention online, it’s definitely from the kind of guys they’d touch with a ten foot pole. And I have the same standards, I’m attracted to women who are worldly, who are cultured, who have interesting hobbies. I couldn’t be with a woman who has absolutely nothing interesting about her, who just stays inside and plays video games or just scrolled in social media all day. Looks are important but if I’m not intellectually stimulated by a women then I won’t have real attraction.

Tbh, I see the argument both ways.

From the female POV, it makes sense to filter out a lot of strangers on the Internet, especially given the risks and dangers involved. This is doubly true for women looking for real relationships and not just hookups for sex.

But, from a male POV, a lot of dudes have to put significantly more effort attaining female attention to begin with than vice versa. And the very first step of getting any female attention for dating/hookups online or offline is difficult for many men.

To give an analogy. Men have trouble beating level 1 in the video game while having a relatively easy time defeating the final boss whereas women can beat the 1st level easily while struggling to win the game.

Different challenges overall but a lot of dudes would kill to simply beat the 1st level which is why many men might perceive women claiming to be lonely or perpetually single as not knowing how good they have it.

The issues are not parallel.

Here, we have men struggling with serious mental health issues stemming from extreme and prolonged isolation - some of which have gone a decade or more without meaningful familial, romantic or sexual physical contact. We also have women who are unfulfilled romantically, who have had cyclic experiences with predatory men, who have never struggled with isolation. I truly feel that there is no real comparison between the two sides, as one is much more desperate and damned than the other. Incels have no business telling women how to date, and women have no business telling ostracized men what they did to deserve societal abandonment.

A better analogy would be incels as dying of thirst in a desert and women as wine connoisseurs choosing the best barrel. The dating market is competitive, and everyone wants the best for themselves - that’s normal. What isn’t normal is entire sections of society being sanctioned off as untouchables. Again, one is a mental health pandemic and the other is life maxing.

Ideally, the moderates would come together to exchange personal anecdotes and debate the nature of dating on PPD. In reality, we have incels screaming at women for dating who they want to date and women scorning an already disenfranchised group of men.

Pick of the litter is a bit of an overstatement. I have standards, so do many other men. If some single mom landwhale were to DM me for casual sex I would laugh and decline so hard.

But, sadly, plenty of men would be happy just to get their dick wet in something with a pulse. So even the most repulsive landwhale can go on the internet and score a guy with low enough standards. And I'm actually not sure if the same would be true in reverse.
