I’ve been reading manosphere stuff since the early days of Chateau Heartiste, anyway. It fascinated me, but honestly has not impacted how I date or relate to men at all, simply because the attitudes I see on PPD are not reflected in the men around me. And as for managing how I interact with men I don’t know, I was doing that long before I found the manosphere.

I’ve always gotten along with men really well and had healthy, positive and mutually supportive connections with men, so what I read on these forums doesn’t really alter how I engage with them IRL. The type of guy who vents on manosphere forums is a different type of man than the ones I hang out with.

If anything I do think manosphere stuff has been oddly useful to me, as I’ve picked up a few general ideas on how to make myself a more attractive potential partner to men I’m interested in. Judging by recent success those tips have paid off.

So in the end, take what you need from any of these places but discard what you don’t, and if you find it’s really negatively impacting your worldview, then get off.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that women's general disgust for most males predates actually looking at what they were saying. When women start listening to what men have to say, they are just looking to confirm their biases.

The "backstory" of most red or black pilled men involves a realisation that things are basically the opposite of what they assumed about women. Implying their default beliefs about women were relatively positive and what they observed changed their mind.

With women, That's not really a thing, they seem to keep the same general beliefs about men but slightly more extreme. The ones that do have a change of heart are the ones going from relatively negative views of men to relatively positive views on men.

So no, I don't think reading all that stuff changes a whole lot for women, I think it just clarifies an hatred in them that was already there.

I think it's a lot more than just reading toxic mens spaces that makes women disgusted with men. I think there's a low key vibe in society. A man approached you, smiled and said hello? He's probably a creeper. There's a man playing with kids in a playground? He's probably a pedo. A man is stoic and shows no emotions? He's emotionally stunted. A man gets angry at something? He's potentially violent and abusive.

The problem is, you can never know which man wrote what.

I started reading that kind of stuff several years ago even as far back as when there was still just a regular old ‘cel subreddit. It didn’t stop me from dating but it definitely changed how I interacted with them and viewed them. When you know all of their little tricks and hang-ups it becomes almost a game.

It also taught me to vett with a new lens. I stopped being so soft and simpy for men(“I love him so much I’ll put up with him making me feel like shit!” “It’s no big deal you don’t ever answer my calls or return texts! I’m just happy to talk to you whenever!”) which improved my dating life and general well being. I realized that if you give them an inch they’ll try to take a mile and run all over you. A lot of RP stuff is basically them spilling their manipulation manual so why not learn who and what to avoid? That I also just learned from my life experience. To borrow a phrase from this sub,I learned not to put the penis on a pedestal and stopped allowing just any kind of behavior simply because I want to feel like I’m desirable.

It also allowed me to take rejection/cold shoulder/dread game in stride and laugh it off like a little joke. It’s amusing how many men will try to play games with you to pretend he’s “in demand” but when you stop giving him attention or give someone else attention then you see how quickly they drop the snobby,aloof “don’t have time” act.

Not all of that came from the RP subs though,but reading it was the kickstart.

It's a problem that extends to both genders. I'm a big lurker. Once the "femosphere" took off in the last few years, I got general disgust for certain types of women. I constantly see red flags on dating apps and IRL, signs these women are participating in toxic social media content. Now I have to screen and vet all women very carefully. It makes me much more hesitant to offer serious commitment or investment.

Internet anonymity lets people think they can let out their vilest self without consequence to character & integrity. But it bubbles out IRL in subtle ways. What I've found is that there is a nugget of truth in most grievances that people air online. The issue is how healthily they deal with their concerns. We see plenty of equally toxic behavior from other demographics. So I think the maturity is in separating out the legitimate concerns from the trauma responses.

I'm not sure if they were trolling or not (but they didn't seem like trolls) but even in the last few months two women in this forum admitted they dumped their seemingly adoring boyfriends due to reading this particular subreddit because it made them feel as though their boyfriends only cared about them because they were under age 30 or saw sex as something owed, or wanted them to be homemakers, et cetera.

One I even commented to that this subreddit has a lot of men who are not representative of even a small percentage of men (that my spending time here actually makes me more appreciative of the normal men in my life -and the weird men but the good kind of weird- because they were so different than some of the men here) but it was too late, I think she'd already said she'd dumped her guy or was going to.

I'm not defending any of the Manosphere without context, but, yeah, some of it is toxic and violent. But, some of it is in the name of humor. Men typically have darker senses of humor. They also try to escalate the "humor", and bond over jabbing at each other and others. So, there is a higher baseline than normal that you have to start at when considering if something is actually alarming in the Manosphere.

Nothing happens in a vacuum. The emotion behind those statements, is it anger and frustration? Or, some other emotions? Could those emotions be attributed to outside factors, like FDS and real world experiences?

What is your opinion on what these men are saying, versus the various relationship data that we've seeing come out lately?

I will say this, to all the men holding up feminism and more specifically, social media feminism as "proof" of how much women hate men and so it all evens out, thats not true.

Women do hate on men online, but it holds no candle to male hatred for women. Just take a quick look, remember the BuzzFeed "women's questions for men", well the response video for it that put down those feminists ended up getting way more views and support than even the original video. Kill all men? I have seen more people bitch about this meme than i have seen women say it.

What usually happens is some women start to hate men, but the backlash to their hatred often overwhelms the original hatred itself.

But i dont see much backlash at all to male hatred of women. There are hundreds of mid size podcasts/YouTube channels solely dedicated to putting women down or showing an insane women so men can take the bait and shittalk women in the comments and no one blinks. And their clips get posted on twitter and gain 22k likes, or on reddit, where they get 25k upvotes and everyone agrees with them and dunks on the onlyfans girl the podcast guy paid to make him look good in comparison.

When a woman makes a joke about a man, twenty flavours of annoying bitch about it in her comments sections, the other way around? Men get celebrated for it and what's worse is the exaggerated jokes the comedian makes about women, is unironically agreed by the men in the comments sections. And they say women can't take a joke.

Look at youtube shorts, and wait and see how long you get a video that men will hate the woman on, no matter if it's justified or not.

I'm sorry, it just isn't equal. No amount of pointing at feminism, a dying institution that is more mocked than it is followed and revered, will change that.

Here I'll change your mind. I recently went on a date with a recently divorced woman. She has been out of the dating game for about 15 years, and a lot has changed.

During the course of the date she volunteered that she read up the horror ideologies on the internet, awful stories and takes and men's propensity to use manipulation techniques. I heard her out and didn't disagree with the current meta.

She mentioned 2 previous awful dates that ended in nothing since they were pushy to get her to their place. I was amused and just let her talk out everything she wanted to say without interruption and just enjoyed my Boulevard Wheat beer. I leaned back the entire night.

She thanked me at the end of the date that she was so happy and relieved that I was even cuter in person and "normal" and relaxed guy to hangout with. She invited me to hers and I fucked the shit out of her.

Imo women reading the manosphere just teaches them which males to avoid. I've heard men IRL parroting this stuff and it's no surprise they're always single. It's becoming more prevalent among young men in their teens and early 20s.

But as per usual it's a sub culture. The manosphere doesn't represent all men, despite old fashioned sexism overlapping at points, the manosphere is a small pocket of men. However I can see women getting glimpses into general unsavory feelings or beliefs that it seems like most men have.

As you'll often hear men say, "I don't agree with all of it, but there are some truths to it".

In that regard the manosphere does give insight into what men generally aren't saying outloud.

I always suggest that people take initiative of the media that they consume online and the outlook that they shape for themselves. If someone wants a relationship they should mindful of the manosphere stuff to avoid specific men, but it would be ridiculous for the manosphere alone to prevent someone from entering into a relationship if they actually want one.

Resenting men for them reacting to the hate from modern society is unjustified.

If you want undesirable male spaces to die out, you need to actively oppose the institutions that make these spaces necessary and inevitable. When people like you gain positions of power, you make men all the more likely to turn to these spaces for friendship and safety because society in general is hostile towards them.

In other words, start opposing misandry and call out anti-male sentiments among your friends. If you don't, you continue the cycle of hatred, and make it necessary for men to react to your actions.
