Does it matter why she wants the towel? She does not need to justify using an item, bringing an item on a trip, whether it’s a need or want, how it helps or doesn’t, etc. She needs to justify this to absolutely no one, and not need to even mention it to anyone else. I’m not sure that it’s relevant to bring up why a different towel is good for different hair (though we all know it is).

Acting like a mundane, small difference in how you like to do things is an embarrassment or somehow shameful, wrong, or weird, is something that has always bothered me immensely. It's so stepford wife, so rigid and irrational. (And in this example, probably racist, too.)

Same with mistakes. One time I was late for a flight and missed it. My bf at the time thought that was "disrespectful" so he lied to his family about it, and told them my flight was delayed. He was embarrassed by the idea of his family knowing that I made a mistake.

It is neurotic behavior. And somewhat narcissistic, because they see your behavior as a reflection of them. I don't think it says good things about their character or their family's dynamics.

There’s a reason they do this, see our stuff and use it, I just can’t figure it out but I know I hate it and it’s testing boundaries.

Her hair towel isn’t weird. He doesn’t need to understand it just respect it. His reasoning for unpacking her towel was bs.

I just… why. I hope she dumps him because while his behavior may be common this behavior is not healthy. And he sounds jealous of her hair towel.
